the team
The team at the Oriental Medicine Research Trust (OMRT) is made up of practising acupuncturists keen to further explore and promote the wonderful discipline of Oriental Medicine.
OMRT could always do with more hands to the pump, so do get in touch if you'd like to help, particularly if you have skills in research or fund-raising.
Mark Bovey qualified from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1983 and has completed the Clinical Integration course at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. He practises in Abingdon and Oxford and also works as co-ordinator of the Acupuncture Research Resource Centre at Thames Valley University. He is a Module Leader for Research and Reflective Practice at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine.
Jessica Kennedy has an MA from Oxford University and is a Chartered Accountant. She qualified from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine and practices acupuncture in London, see www.jessicakennedy.com.
Peter Linthwaite studied psychology at the London School of Economics before working in research at the Health Education Authority and the Economic and Social Research Council. He trained at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine and currently practises acupuncture at the College clinic in Reading and in Henley-on-Thames. He is the Programme Leader for Research and Reflective Practice at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine.
Peter Mole is the Chairman of OMRT. He has an MA from Oxford University and practises in Oxford. He graduated from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1978 and has a MAc degree from that college. He is the Dean of the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. He was joint author of a research paper studying the effect of acupuncture on disabling breathlessness which was published in The Lancet. Peter is the author of Acupuncture, Energy Balancing for Body, Mind and Spirit , which is directed at patients and prospective students and he co-wrote Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture with Angela and John Hicks.
Karen Proudfoot has a BSc in pharmacology from Aberdeen University and a PhD in biochemistry. Having spent 15 years in biochemical research she then studied acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine, graduating in 2001. Since then she has also completed the College patent herb course. She practises acupuncture in Reading and Crowthorne.
Jackie Shaw taught English in China after graduating in biophysics from the University of Sussex. In 1984 she co-founded an educational charity specialising in the use of video as a tool for group development and is the author of Participatory Video. She still works as a consultant, trainer and researcher in this field. She has been in practice since graduating from the College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1989 and has since trained in TCM. She is a Module Leader for Research and Reflective Practice at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine.
All the members of our team are members of the British Acupuncture Council.
